Relax. Revive. Repeat.

What is Resilient Retreats?

Hello Friends!

Resilient Retreats is made up of a couple of long time teachers who are curious about the body, how it moves in space, how it moves through the world, how it moves in community and how it communicates glee. Inertia, locomotion, flow, how do we play and more importantly, how do we best set our bodies up to keep on playing as we age?

We are explorers, space creators, musicians of muscles and interested in romancing gravity while planting seeds of stability with you on these curated adventures.

It is our belief that the privilege of travel is a gift. Part of the goal for us in creating this project is to use this gift to open doors of learning for each individual. We hope for you to take the opportunity to not only stop and listen to your own bodys’ process within the studio, but to also embrace being aware outside the studio. Observing an unfamiliar culture and then finding your flavor of contributing to this new fold of the world is an unmatched glue that binds us together in understanding and builds perspective. We all share a common human desire to be mobile, to float and enjoy our bodys’ movement.

Community building comes in many forms, shapes and sizes. Whether you are an introvert, extrovert or walk in the space between, we invite you to join in our experiment of human experience.

                                                                    ...to embody inclusion
                                                                                         ...to become unstuck
                                                                                                              ...to take the leap
                                                                                                                            ...to trust the process

Clare
Hesterman

Clare has been teaching Pilates and movement education for 15 years on both coasts. Her training at the Kane School of Core Integration in New York started the journey of movement as therapeutic, learning unique and subtle assessment techniques. She joined their staff and subsequently became a Teacher Trainer in their internationally recognised training program while concurrently opening her own studio in Brooklyn.

Over the past 15 years her style has evolved with the experience of working with individuals looking to expand their movement patterns out of pain and into more expansion. Clare finds so much joy in helping to facilitate folks becoming more aware of their bodies, their habits and movement choices.
Her training is specialized thru hundred of hours in continuing education in anatomy, biomechanics, touch therapy, and experience working with a wide range of injuries, including but not limited to: osteoporosis, scoliosis, arthritis, knee/hip replacements, abdominal surgeries, ligament and labral tears, pain disorders and pregnancy/postpartum movement needs. Clare is a comprehensively certified Pilates Instructor, Prenatal/Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist and certified in the Roll Model Method.

Her studio in Portland Oregon is currently waitlist only.

When not teaching Clare spends her time with her wild and crazy family getting schooled about Pokemon and dinosaurs.

Kira
Davis

From gymnastics to dance, yoga to circus arts, Kira has always been a mover. After surviving an awful car crash in her teens and later seriously injuring her back, she realized that she was all flexibility and no strength. She was drawn to Pilates as a tool for strengthening her hyper-mobile frame and immediately enjoyed the stabilizing results it provided. Adopting a strong Pilates practice has helped Kira not only with pain management, but more importantly, it has been the key in keeping hope and motivation alive to get back to a reasonable level of function after severe injury.

Kira is inspired by the puzzle of human anatomy and feels excited to explore with clients on their journey back to pain-free locomotion and recovery.

With special attention to rehabilitative Pilates, Kira particularly sends focus int low back pain, hyper-mobility, arthritis, plantar fasciitis/bunion, balance, postural alignment, repetitive stress injury, deep core/pelvic floor, SI dysfunction and TMJ issues.

“It is an honor to be part of the process that helps your body move through space with ease.”

Outside the studio Kira enjoys being on her paddle board, biking, swimming, gardening, spending time in the sun and building community!
